At a glance

  • Coinbase BTC-USD spot traded at $80,469.31 at 02:58:17 UTC on 5 November; the completed prior session rose 4.00%.
  • A close above $81,130.79 and later hold of $80,428.31–$81,130.79 would support continuation.
  • A close below $80,008.79 would weaken the $80,000 hold; below $77,981.38 with a failed reclaim would favour a failed-recovery reading.
  • US productivity data is scheduled for 5 November and the Employment Situation for 6 November, both at 13:30 UTC / 19:30 Bangladesh.

Bitcoin Holds $80,000 After a 4% Rebound: Jobs Data Trading Plan

Bitcoin has recovered the $80,000 area after Wednesday's wide rebound, but the next daily session has only just begun. The useful test is whether $80,000 becomes support or whether the move fades as traders approach two scheduled US labour-market releases.

Coinbase Exchange BTC-USD spot last traded at $80,469.31 at 02:58:17 UTC on 5 November 2026 — 08:58:17 in Bangladesh and 02:58:17 GMT in London. The completed 4 November UTC session closed at $80,428.31, up 4.00% from Tuesday's $77,336.75 close. The current quote is a timestamped last trade from a live exchange feed, not a continuously updating or guaranteed executable price. Coinbase's ticker is the primary source; Yahoo Finance showed $80,471.31 at 02:58:14 UTC as a cross-check. Venue prices may differ.

What changed after yesterday's support test?

Our 4 November Bitcoin plan required a close above $77,981.38 and a later successful retest for recovery confirmation. Bitcoin went further: Wednesday traded down to $75,600.64, reversed to $81,130.79 and closed at $80,428.31. That completed close confirms recovery above $77,981.38, but it does not prove that $80,000 will hold on the next pullback.

The 5 November UTC session was trading between $80,169.28 and $80,843.85 when this report was prepared. Because that candle was less than three hours old, those figures are provisional.

Scheduled US data can widen volatility

The US Bureau of Labor Statistics calendar schedules preliminary third-quarter Productivity and Costs for 5 November at 08:30 Eastern / 13:30 UTC / 19:30 Bangladesh, followed by the October Employment Situation on 6 November at the same time. The calendar confirms release times, not the results or Bitcoin's reaction.

Productivity, unit labour costs, payrolls, unemployment and wage data can change expectations for inflation, interest rates and risk appetite. Bitcoin may move with those expectations, against them or for unrelated crypto-specific reasons. Do not invent a causal story from the first price move after the release; compare the data, Treasury yields, the US dollar and Bitcoin's closing response.

The Money Man View: next one to three UTC sessions

Base case — $80,000 is the decision area. Wednesday's close repaired part of the recent decline, but its $5,530.15 range also shows elevated volatility. Holding above the $80,000 area would keep recovery intact; repeated crossings would favour patience until the data risk passes.

Bullish scenario. A completed daily close above $81,130.79, followed by a pullback that holds the $80,428.31–$81,130.79 area, would strengthen continuation evidence. The $81,890–$81,962 cluster would then be the next historical area to reassess, not a promised target. A later daily close below $80,428.31 would invalidate this specific breakout-hold thesis.

Bearish or failed-recovery scenario. A daily close below $80,008.79 would weaken the $80,000 hold. A later close below $77,981.38, followed by a failed reclaim, would provide stronger evidence that Wednesday's recovery failed. The $77,336.75 prior close and $75,600.64 session low would become references, not guaranteed destinations. A sustained reclaim above $77,981.38 would invalidate the immediate breakdown-hold thesis.

These are conditional alternatives, not simultaneous trade instructions. The wide prior range increases stop distance and slippage risk. Calculate size from the actual entry to invalidation and skip the setup when the required stop is incompatible with the risk budget. Our ATR and volatility-adjusted position-sizing guide provides a practical framework.

Next checkpoints and risks

First monitor the productivity release at 13:30 UTC, then the 5 November daily close at 00:00 UTC on 6 November / 06:00 Bangladesh / 00:00 GMT in London. The employment report follows 13.5 hours later. Rebuild the plan if the daily structure changes materially; static levels should not be carried forward indefinitely.

Bitcoin trades continuously, but liquidity, spreads and exchange access can change. Spot BTC is not a perpetual future: leverage, funding, liquidation, custody and counterparty risk require separate checks. Stops can fill beyond their trigger.
