Gold Daily Outlook: Recovery Attempt Meets a Hawkish Fed Backdrop

Gold recovered modestly on 8 October after touching a two-month low. Spot gold was reported near $4,127 per ounce, while other market snapshots placed the session around the $4,100–$4,150 area. The rebound is real, but the daily structure still needs confirmation before it can be treated as a trend reversal.

What moved gold

The immediate pressure came from a firmer US dollar, elevated Treasury yields and a more cautious Federal Reserve message. The September meeting minutes kept the possibility of another rate increase alive because officials remained concerned about persistent inflation. Higher real yields raise the opportunity cost of holding a non-yielding asset such as gold.

The counterweight is steady investment demand. The World Gold Council reported that global gold ETFs attracted about $10 billion of inflows in September, even as gold finished that month about 8.5% lower. That divergence suggests that longer-term demand has not disappeared, but futures liquidation and macro pressure can still dominate the daily chart.

Daily chart map

The first decision zone is $4,150–$4,170. A daily close above that area, followed by a successful retest, would make the recovery more credible. The next upside reference is around $4,200, with the broader recovery zone extending toward $4,290–$4,370.

On the downside, $4,100 is the first psychological support, followed by approximately $4,080–$4,085. A decisive daily close below that lower band would keep the sequence of lower highs and lower lows intact and reopen the path toward the next support area.

Conditional trading opportunities

Recovery setup: consider a long only after a daily close above $4,170 and a hold of that level on a retest. A logical invalidation is a close back below the reclaimed zone. Initial objectives are $4,200 and then the $4,290–$4,370 area.

Range or pullback setup: if price rejects $4,150–$4,170 and remains below it, a short-term sell-on-rally idea can target $4,100 and then $4,080. The setup is invalidated by a sustained daily close above the rejection zone.

Support-reaction setup: a bullish daily reversal around $4,080–$4,100 can offer a smaller, counter-trend recovery idea toward $4,150. This requires a defined stop below the reversal low and smaller position size because the broader daily trend has not been repaired.

These are scenarios, not trade signals. Confirm the daily candle close, spread, liquidity and your broker’s contract specification before acting. Risk a small, predetermined fraction of capital and avoid opening a leveraged position immediately before major US inflation data. The September CPI release is scheduled for 14 October at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time, which is 6:30 p.m. Bangladesh time.

Conclusion

Gold is attempting to stabilize, but buyers have not yet demonstrated a durable daily reversal. Above $4,170, the recovery case improves; below $4,100, sellers retain the advantage. Patience around the confirmation levels is more useful than predicting the next candle.
