Ethereum Near $2,300 as Devcon Opens: The Daily Recovery Test

Executive Summary

  • ✦Coinbase ETH-USD spot traded at $2,296.22 at 17:02:37 UTC on 3 November, about 2.07% above Monday's close.
  • ✦An intraday recovery above $2,290 is not a completed daily breakout.
  • ✦A close above $2,318.92 and a successful retest would improve the recovery case; a close below $2,233.08 and failed reclaim would favour renewed weakness.
  • ✦Devcon runs 3–6 November; conference discussion is not confirmation of an upgrade or token demand.

Ethereum has recovered above $2,290 during Tuesday's session, but the daily recovery still needs confirmation. With Devcon under way, the useful distinction is between an encouraging intraday rebound and a completed break through the recent price ceiling.

Coinbase Exchange ETH-USD spot last traded at $2,296.22 at 17:02:37 UTC on 3 November 2026 — 23:02:37 in Bangladesh and 17:02:37 GMT in London. That is approximately 2.07% above Monday's $2,249.66 UTC close, not a rolling 24-hour return. This is a timestamped last trade from a live exchange feed, not a continuously updating or guaranteed executable quote. Coinbase ticker is the primary source; Yahoo Finance showed $2,296.32 at the same second as a cross-check. Different venues and aggregation methods can produce different prices.

What has changed since our last Ethereum plan?

Our 30 October analysis required a daily close above $2,290 and a later successful retest for recovery confirmation. None of the completed Coinbase UTC sessions from 30 October through 2 November closed above that threshold. Tuesday's intraday move above it therefore improves the picture without completing that condition.

Monday traded as high as $2,314.92 but finished at $2,249.66. That makes its high a useful test of whether buyers can retain gains beyond the session. Meanwhile, the lows on 31 October and 2 November were unusually close: $2,233.08 and $2,233.50. This is an observed reference area, not a guarantee that buyers will defend it again.

Source: Coinbase daily candles. Tuesday's sampled range was $2,236.92–$2,304.62, still unfinished. Daily sessions run from 00:00 to 00:00 UTC. The candle and ticker endpoints refresh separately, so their latest values can differ. Daily OHLC data cannot establish the order of an intraday retest or prove a tradable fill.

Devcon is a catalyst window, not a guaranteed price trigger

The official Devcon website confirms the Mumbai conference runs 3–6 November. That creates a window for research and roadmap announcements. An event date alone does not establish extra demand for ETH or explain today's rebound.

The Ethereum Foundation's 22 October Hoodi update, checked for this report, postpones the previously planned Glamsterdam testnet activation and gives no replacement date. It does not set a mainnet activation date. Treat any new timetable as unconfirmed until an official update supplies it.

Today's Foundation public-infrastructure article introduces resources for institutions considering Ethereum. Our interpretation: this is ecosystem context, not quantified near-term token demand or evidence of a price breakout. For the next few sessions, confirmed announcements and the market's closing response matter more than promotional claims.

The Money Man View: the next one to three UTC sessions

Base case — recovery inside a still-unresolved range. Above $2,290 is an improvement, but Monday's $2,314.92 high and the older $2,318.92 reference form a narrow overhead test. A close back below $2,249.66 would weaken Tuesday's recovery. Repeated crossings without a sustained break favour patience.

Bullish scenario. A completed UTC daily close above $2,318.92, followed by a later retest that holds the $2,314.92–$2,318.92 area, would provide stronger evidence of repair. $2,356.89 would then be a historical reference to reassess, not a promised target. A later daily close below $2,314.92 would invalidate this specific breakout-hold thesis. Simply buying the first intraday touch does not satisfy the condition.

Bearish scenario. A completed daily close below $2,233.08, followed by a failed reclaim of the $2,233.08–$2,233.50 area, would favour a renewed downside test. $2,170.03 is the next lower reference used in this plan; it may never be reached. A sustained reclaim of $2,233.50 would invalidate the immediate breakdown-hold thesis. A brief wick below the area is insufficient confirmation.

These are conditional alternatives, not simultaneous trade instructions. Before acting, compare the available distance to the next reference with the actual entry, invalidation distance, spread, fees and slippage. Skip a setup when those economics do not fit the risk budget; a technically valid signal can still be a poor trade.

Next checkpoint and practical risks

Tuesday's daily candle finishes at 00:00 UTC on 4 November / 06:00 Bangladesh / 00:00 GMT in London. Recheck the final close and range, then look for official announcements during the remaining Devcon sessions. Do not carry these static levels forward indefinitely after fresh price structure develops.

Crypto trades continuously, but liquidity and exchange access can change. Spot prices are not perpetual-futures prices; leverage, funding charges, liquidation and custody risk require separate checks. Stops may fill beyond their trigger, as our bracket-order and OCO guide explains. Investors with a longer horizon should assess concentration and custody separately from this short-term setup.
